When you’re out celebrating this weekend we should always keep in mind is how these freedoms have been paid for by the sacrifices and lives of so many servicemen and women. They have defended our freedoms and our country both here and overseas. From the American Revolution until the current fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, America has lost over a million servicemembers.
On Memorial Day (originally decoration day started in 1868) we celebrate and mourn the loss of life of American Soldiers. In addition we also celebrate the lives of loved ones we have lost. Please remember to always honor the fallen that have given everything for you.
“Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christmas and the American Soldier. One died for your soul, the other died for your freedom.”
“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends” – John 15:13
However you celebrate and give thanks, enjoy it as someone has given it all to make it possible.
